Packing Buddy Bags for the Alannah & Madeline Foundation
7th July 2022
The Wilson Security VIC team recently volunteered their time at the Alannah and Madeline Foundation where they spent the day packing ‘Buddy Bags’. The team lovingly packed comforting backpacks filled with items like pyjamas, toiletries, books, a toy, and a teddy bear.
Buddy Bags are given to infants, children and teenagers who arrive in emergency care with nothing and aim to show children they are cared for and loved. They also help restore a sense of security, which is one of the vital first steps to recovery. A Buddy Bag is more than just the items in it. It gives a child things that are for them to keep, things of their own, that they don’t have to leave behind. One backpack can mean the world!
Wilson Security team members were warmly greeted by the foundation and were told about the life changing work the foundation does for vulnerable children. At the end of the day each member received a card containing heartfelt message from children who have received buddy bugs.
Alannah and Madeline Foundation recently celebrated 25 years of impact, over the course they have helped 3 million children and young people and have provided over 100,000 Buddy Bags.
Wilson Security Donation
Our Comcare team proudly donated hand towels, tissues, and soap tins to the Alannah & Madeline Foundation to include in the Buddy Bags. These items were donated on the day and handed over to the team at the Alannah and Madeline Foundation to provide to the children that need them most.
